Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with Second Major in Food Science and Technology

The Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with Second Major in Food Science and Technology combines Biological Sciences with a second major in Food Science and Technology. Students study five Food Science and Technology core courses: Food Chemistry, Food Physics, Food Microbiology, Food Process Engineering, and Food Quality Design. They also choose prescribed electives from SCBE, SBS, and SPMS. The programme is designed for students interested in biology who want further understanding of food processes from an engineering and industrial point of view.

Food Science and Technology courses are taught by faculties from Wageningen University, with coordinators at NTU. Learning includes online learning via the Wageningen University course site with weekly interactive Live Question Hour. Students complete a final year research project, study a Food Physics laboratory class for 1 week, and join industrial visits to food companies and industries in the Netherlands for 1 week. The programme also includes student exchange with Wageningen University, and study trip to Wageningen University, plus networking for career development in the local food industry and priority internship in the local food industry.

At least H2 or equivalent pass in Mathematics and a H2 Level or equivalent pass in Physics, Chemistry or Biology; OR at least H1 or equivalent pass in Mathematics and two H2 Level or equivalent pass in Physics, Chemistry or Biology.

Students are required to maintain a CGPA of at least 4.0 throughout their course of study.
