Diploma in Gerontology Community Health and Social Care

The Diploma in Gerontology (Community Health & Social Care) at Temasek Polytechnic prepares students to apply gerontological concepts to develop individualised care plans for older adults. It also covers how to plan, implement and evaluate psychosocial programmes, engage and manage stakeholders, and contribute to workforce planning, staff engagement and recruitment.

The qualification is awarded after completing a total of 5 modular certificates. Learning includes facilitated learning with face-to-face and online synchronous sessions, plus asynchronous e-learning. Students are required to bring their own notebooks for lessons. The course runs with sessions scheduled for 7pm to 10pm, 3 times a week.

Course modules span gerontology fundamentals, anatomy and physiology of ageing, social research and programme evaluation, population health programming, person-centred care management, health and social care delivery, and community leadership. Learning includes classroom components, plus practicum components for selected subjects.
