Master of Arts in Inclusive Special Education

The Master of Arts in Inclusive Special Education (MAISE) at Aventis is a part-time programme for educators and professionals who want to strengthen their understanding of inclusive education for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). It covers key concepts, methodologies, and challenges in SEND education, including debates on equity, inclusion, and advocacy.

Students study through weekend classes and complete 100% coursework, with no written examinations. A distinctive feature is applied research conducted within the student’s own workplace or professional context. The programme includes modules in Disability Studies in Education, Exploring Inclusive Pedagogy, Exploring Research: Informing and Changing Practice, Autism Education: Theory and Practice, and a Dissertation.

Admission requirements

Academic requirements: Meet any ONE of the following: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university; Graduate Diploma or Diploma qualification plus a minimum of 8 years' relevant work experience; Candidates aged 30 or above with a minimum of 8 years' work experience (assessed case-by-case).

General eligibility requirement: Minimum age: 21 years old at the time of application.

Meet any ONE of the following: GCE O Level English (C6 and above); IELTS 5.5 or above; Aventis English Proficiency Test (EPT) — for applicants who do not meet the above requirements.
