Master of Science in Civil Engineering

The Master of Science in Civil Engineering at Nanyang Technological University is a full-time or part-time programme within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE). Civil engineering covers structural and construction engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, water resources and environmental engineering. The programme includes coursework with or without an M.Sc. dissertation, and students take subjects from several civil engineering disciplines.

Students complete 30 Academic Units (AU), which corresponds to 10 courses. Students complete 15 AUs from the Civil Engineering curriculum. Students may specialise in either Geotechnical or Structure Engineering, and eligible students may choose a Coursework + Dissertation study track from the second semester onwards. A dissertation project is in lieu of 2 courses. Classes run on weekday evenings from 6.30 PM–9.30 PM, with examinations scheduled on weekday mornings or afternoons.

The minimum admission requirements are: have a good Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent in a related discipline. Meeting these criteria does not guarantee admission, as selection is competitive.

TOEFL/IELTS is required for applicants whose Bachelor programme is not conducted in English. Test date must be within 2 years or less from the date of application. For applicants studying overseas, submit relevant proof of documentation that the programme was conducted in English. GRE/GMAT score is not required for admission.
