Government of Slovak Republic National Scholarship Program Overview
International students can receive fully financed scholarships through the National Scholarship Programe of the Slovak Republic. These scholarships are offered for both master’s and doctoral degrees. The award might total up to 734 euros per month.
Scholarships for graduate students, teachers at the university level, researchers, and artists from abroad The National Scholarship Programe of the Slovak Republic was established in 2005 with approval from the Slovak Republic’s government to encourage student, PhD, university teaching, researcher, and artistic mobility.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport of the Slovak Republic provides funding for the NSP, or National Scholarship Programme.
The National Scholarship of the Slovak Republic supports international students’ mobility for fellowship stays at higher education institutions and research organisations in Slovakia. It also supports the mobility of PhD students, university lecturers, researchers, and artists.

Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship
To be eligible for the National Scholarship Program of the Slovak Republic, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Required Language(s): English
- Eligible Countries: All world countries
For University Students:
- Must be university students at non-Slovakian universities.
- Must be pursuing a master’s degree or have completed at least 2.5 years of their university studies in the same program.
- Should be accepted by a public, private, or state university in Slovakia for academic mobility.
For Ph.D. Students:
- Must be Ph.D. students studying outside Slovakia.
- Should be accepted by a public, private, or state university or a research institution in Slovakia for academic mobility, research, or artistic activities.
The National Scholarship Program does not support:
- International students seeking full higher education in Slovakia.
- Applicants who have spent 12 or more months in Slovakia in the 36 months before the application deadline.
- Those receiving scholarships from other Slovakian scholarship programs funded by public resources.
Application process for National Scholarship Program
Follow these steps to apply for the National Scholarship Program:
- Fill in the online application and upload the required attachments in Slovak or English.
- Submit the application online.
- Deliver the original admission/invitation letter to SAIA, n. o., in Bratislava within three working days after the application deadline.
