The Doctor of Philosophy in Human Movement Science provides advanced theoretical knowledge of biological, physiological, and psychological aspects of human movement. Students study physical activity mechanics, motor control, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and the effects of movement on health. The program encourages critical research on performance optimization, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and chronic disease management. To qualify for admission, a prospective student must have completed a Master's degree at the University of Fort Hare or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Senate and SAQA. The applicant must have submitted their Master's dissertation for examination with supervisor consent within the University's deadlines.
