OYW ICMM Young Scholarship

The International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) and One Young World offer the ICMM Young Leaders Scholarship to identify young leaders with a proven and demonstrated interest in biodiversity conservation, decarbonisation, responsible natural resource production, social performance, and promoting sustainability. The stated purpose is to select impactful young leaders to participate in the One Young World Summit.

The scholarship targets young leaders who are aged 18 to 35 at the time of the One Young World Summit and who are leading initiatives or driving meaningful change through their job or outside work, with proven impact in at least one of the listed theme areas. Applicants must show willingness to engage with fellow scholarship recipients; candidates older than 35 are considered if they demonstrate appropriate personal impact, initiative, and willingness to engage.

One Young World and ICMM select outstanding young leaders globally based on the stated interest and proven impact in the scholarship themes. Applicants apply through the application portal. Applicants may be invited to submit additional documentation, including references, a pitch video, and/or a video call with representatives of One Young World and ICMM as part of the application process.

Selected young leaders receive full funding to participate in the One Young World Summit. They also receive exclusive dialogue with the ICMM CEO on the sidelines of the Summit, lifelong membership of the One Young World Ambassador Community, access to the One Young World Action Accelerator and expert-led mentor sessions, and access to the One Young World Global Kickstart programme focused on enhanced leadership skills and principles alongside expertise around the Summit’s main themes.

• Applicants must be general young leaders aged 18–35 at the time of the One Young World Summit.
• Applications from people who will be under 18 at the time of the Summit are not accepted.
• Applicants older than 35 may be considered if they demonstrate appropriate personal impact, initiative, and willingness to engage.
• Applicants must lead inspiring initiatives/projects, or drive meaningful change, through their job or in life outside of work.
• Applicants must have proven impact in at least one of the following areas: biodiversity conservation; decarbonisation; responsible natural resource production; social performance (community resilience, human rights etc.); promoting and communicating action on sustainability.
• Applicants must be willing to engage with fellow scholarship recipients.
• Applicants must apply through the application portal.
