The Roche Scholarship for NHS Leaders is offered in partnership with One Young World by Roche UK. Roche UK invests in medicines and tests and aims to collaborate with NHS organisations across the United Kingdom, with a focus that includes sustainable healthcare innovation. The stated purpose is to enable NHS professionals to participate in the One Young World Summit in Cape Town, South Africa.
The scholarship is for young leaders within the NHS who have demonstrated a commitment to sustainable innovation in healthcare. Examples include work addressing health inequalities, creating or implementing innovative methods of treatment or diagnosis to improve patient care, and reducing emissions or burdens on natural resources, such as by decarbonising healthcare supply chains. Candidates must be based in the United Kingdom and have a position in the NHS or an organisation working in partnership with the NHS.
Review of all submissions is independent of the Roche portfolio and any clinical experience the submitter may have of Roche products. Selection is based on the candidate criteria described, including understanding of key local and/or global issues, a track record of impactful and innovative solutions, and demonstrated commitment to sustainable innovation in healthcare.
Support includes access to the One Young World Summit, hotel accommodation in Cape Town in a private room for the period of 2 to 6 November (inclusive), and catering including breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by the hotel and during the Summit. It also covers the cost of travel to and from Cape Town in economy class, with candidates responsible for booking flights and then being reimbursed, plus transportation between the airport and hotel via public transport.
