Overview

Jönköping University (JU) offers a limited number of scholarships to students who pay tuition fees and fulfil the requirements of the scholarship. JU states that the scholarships are awarded in amounts ranging from 10% to 30% of the tuition fee for the bachelor or master programme the student has been admitted to.

JU states that the scholarships cover part of the tuition fee for bachelor and master programmes. Applicants must have applied to a bachelor or master level programme offered on-site at Jönköping University by the scholarship application deadline.

JU states that scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, with an emphasis on academic excellence. JU also states that scholarship applications are processed only after the corresponding programme application has been completed and all required documents have been sent in, and that the scholarship application must be submitted using the online form.

JU states that the awarding of the scholarship will be notified by the university by 7 May. If the tuition fee has been paid before 7 May, JU states that a deduction will be made from the invoice for the second instalment of the tuition fee to the sum of the scholarship. JU also states that awarded students must confirm acceptance of the scholarship; if confirmation is not submitted in due time, the scholarship offer is revoked.

Eligibility

  • Be a citizen of a country which is required to pay tuition fees in Sweden.
  • Note: students do not need to reside in their country of citizenship at the time of submitting the application.
  • Be required to pay tuition fees for studies at Jönköping University.
  • Have applied to a bachelor or master level programme offered on-site at Jönköping University by the scholarship application deadline.
  • Submit a complete scholarship application by the deadline.
  • Students who have applied to a programme but have not yet received an offer to the programme may submit a scholarship application by the deadline.
  • Granted students may not combine the JU scholarship with a scholarship offered through agreements between JU and different organizations such as FIDERH, FUNED in Mexico and COLFUTURO in Colombia.
  • Granted students can still be approved for financial support from the different organizations (FIDERH, FUNED, COLFUTURO) even though they may not combine the JU scholarship with the scholarship offered through those agreements.

Benefits

  • Part of the tuition fee for the bachelor or master programme: 10% to 30% of the tuition fee for the admitted programme.

How to apply

  1. Apply to the bachelor or master level programme offered on-site at Jönköping University (this is required before scholarship processing, as scholarship applications are processed only after the programme application is completed and all required documents have been sent in).
  2. Submit the scholarship application using the online form; JU states that a JU Scholarship application is only considered valid when submitted using the online form above.
  3. Submit a complete scholarship application by the scholarship application deadline.
  4. Include the required items in the scholarship application form: study application number, letter of recommendation, individual statement, and the email address matching the study application.
  5. After notification by the university, confirm acceptance of the scholarship on time; if confirmation is not submitted in due time, JU states the scholarship offer will be revoked.

Documents required

  • Study application number (the application number generated when you submitted the application to a study programme).
  • Letter of recommendation (e.g., from a former teacher or employer): one letter requested, maximum of two letters allowed; must be in English; maximum one page; should describe academic or professional achievement and key strengths that make the student a good candidate.
