Lund University Sweden Global Scholarships

Lund University Global Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship programme funded by Lund University. Lund University awards approximately SEK 26 million (€2.3 million/$2.7 million) each year in scholarship grants to new international students, with the stated purpose of recognising top academic students from outside the EU/EEA who apply for degree programmes at Lund University.

The scholarship is aimed at applicants from outside the EU/EEA (and Switzerland) who are required to pay tuition fees and who apply for Master’s level degree programmes at Lund University, or exceptionally for one of the Bachelor’s programmes in Development Studies, Mathematics, Physics and Physical Geography. The programme at Lund University that you apply for should be your first choice in your application at universityadmissions.se.

Selection is merit-based and highly selective. The selection process runs alongside the programme/course selection and gives priority to applicants who demonstrate strong academic performance, are assessed as a good fit for the chosen programme, show a strong commitment to studying at Lund University, and have selected a Lund University programme/course as their first choice when applying via www.universityadmissions.se. Financial need is not considered.

Grants may cover part or all of tuition fees, and scholarships cover tuition fees only; living costs are not included. Recipients must still meet the Swedish Migration Agency’s requirements by funding living expenses independently. To receive the scholarship, recipients must accept the scholarship within the time frame stated in the award letter, accept the study place according to Lund University’s instructions, and pay the remaining tuition fee instalment by the date stated in the scholarship offer email; the scholarship amount is deducted automatically from the tuition fee invoice.

• Must be a citizen of a country from outside the EU/EEA (and Switzerland).
• Must be required to pay tuition fees.
• Must be applying in a regular application round to Master’s level studies leading to a degree at Lund University.
• Exception eligibility: applying in a regular application round to one of the Bachelor’s programmes in Development Studies, Mathematics, Physics and Physical Geography.
• The Lund University programme you apply for must be your first choice in your application at universityadmissions.se.
• Must meet the admission requirements to Lund University.
• Must be able to secure the funding needed to cover living costs, as required by the Swedish Migration Agency.
• Special conditions may apply if applying to Lund University programmes in Music and Fine arts.
• Financial need is not considered in the selection process.

• Tuition fee coverage: grants may cover part or all of the tuition fees.
• Living costs: not included.

1. First apply to a degree programme at Lund University via the national application website www.universityadmissions.se during the relevant application period, and submit a complete application and pay the application fee.
2. After submitting the programme application, apply for the scholarship through the scholarship application portal using the link posted on the scholarship webpage when the application period begins.
3. Upload a personal “Scholarship Motivation Letter” as part of the scholarship application (maximum 600 words). The letter must explain why your academic achievements and reasons for applying to Lund University make you a strong candidate for the Lund University Global Scholarship.
4. Submit your scholarship application during the scholarship application period.
5. After admission results, accept the scholarship within the time frame stated in your award letter, accept your study place according to Lund University’s instructions, and pay the remaining tuition fee instalment by the date stated in the scholarship offer email; the scholarship amount is deducted automatically from your tuition fee invoice.
