Swedish Institute SI Global Executive Programme

The Swedish Institute SI Global Executive Programme is designed for senior executives who want to align business growth with sustainable impact. The programme supports business leaders in strengthening their ability to lead transformation that is economically resilient, socially responsible, and ecologically sustainable. Participants receive practical insights from Swedish organisations and leaders and apply those insights to their own business context.

Applicants must be senior executives (for example, CEO or senior executive) with leadership responsibility in a medium to large company. The programme is available for applicants who are citizens and residents of programme countries including Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Colombia, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Georgia, DR Congo, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Türkiye, Ukraine, or Vietnam. The programme also requires that the applicant’s company meet specific criteria related to sustainability and the green transition.

Selection is based on eligibility requirements stated by the Swedish Institute, including the applicant’s leadership role, English proficiency, completed post-secondary qualification equivalent to a bachelor’s degree or higher, and a willingness to actively participate and share experience. The applicant also needs to identify business needs or problems that could be worked on during the programme, and the company must operate in industries associated with the green transition or make commitments related to it.

The programme runs from May to November and combines online learning with a one-week onsite module in Sweden as part of the official Sweden Week programme in Stockholm. Participants take part in interactive workshops, facilitated seminars, peer learning and coaching, and meetings with Swedish companies and organisations. The Swedish Institute covers programme-related fees, pre-arranged accommodation, and meals during the official on-site Sweden Week; participants cover travel to and from Stockholm and visa fees where applicable.

• Be a citizen and resident of one of the programme countries: Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Colombia, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Georgia, DR Congo, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Türkiye, Ukraine, or Vietnam.For applicants from Ukraine: Ukrainian applicants who reside outside of Ukraine are also eligible to apply.Have a leadership position, such as CEO or senior executive, in a medium to large company with a mandate to spearhead strategic changes throughout their business.Be at least 30 years old.Have a good working knowledge of both written and spoken English.Hold a completed post-secondary qualification equivalent to a bachelor’s degree or higher.Be willing to actively participate, provide support, and share experience and knowledge with other participants.Have identified business needs or problems that could be worked on during the programme to help the company improve its contribution to a more sustainable world.The applicant’s company must be either: a locally owned company based in one of the programme countries, a Swedish company represented in one of the eligible programme countries, or a company currently in the supply chain of and conducting business with a Swedish company.The company must operate within industries associated with the green transition or be about to make important commitments related to the green transition.The company must be committed to running a business in a sustainable manner and implementing sustainable practices within the organisation.
