The Master in Life Sciences – Chemieengineering at FHNW (FHNW - Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz) is a Master of Science degree focused on (Bio-)chemistry, pharmacy, and environmental technology combined with modern process engineering. The programme includes safety engineering and sustainability, and it covers process development and process optimization through modeling, scale-up, and efficiency improvement.
Students choose an individual module portfolio. The programme uses remote and in-person learning settings. It includes project work and special courses that connect theory to practice, and it ends with a master thesis lasting eight months. The thesis can be completed with an industry partner or at the Process Technology Center of the Hochschule für Life Sciences FHNW.
The degree is delivered in English and can be studied full-time or part-time while working. A double degree option is available with partner universities, and an international thesis option is also possible. Graduates are prepared for roles in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies, chemical and process engineering companies, raw material and circular economy businesses, energy and environmental technology, technology start-ups and innovation centers, and consulting and engineering offices.
