The Biozentrum PhD Fellowships are offered by the Biozentrum International PhD Program at the University of Basel, with support attributed to the Werner Siemens Foundation. The program is intended for talented candidates seeking a rotation-based choice of research group and other incentives.
The Biozentrum encourages talented, ambitious, highly motivated young scientists from all over the world to apply for the Biozentrum PhD Fellowships. The fellowships are independent of a research group and of a project, and fellows conduct research in at least two different labs at the Biozentrum through rotations before choosing the research group for their PhD thesis, pending approval of the respective group leader.
The Biozentrum PhD Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis, with a maximum of 10 successful candidates per year. Applications are open until October 18,, and further information on the application and selection procedure is provided through the programme’s application materials.
The fellowship provides full funding for the entire PhD and fellows are automatically part of the Biozentrum International PhD Program. Additional incentives provided include an annual personal allowance, an annual study trip to a city with ties to Siemens, scientific meetings and networking opportunities, support for preparation of a personal CV and postdoctoral application by Biozentrum faculty members in the Program Committee, and financial support for travel to postdoctoral interviews at the end of the PhD thesis.
