Ibrahim Leadership Fellowships

The Ibrahim Leadership Fellowships were established by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation to identify and mentor the future generation of outstanding African leaders. The programme gives Fellows the opportunity to work in the executive offices of the AfDB, ECA, or the ITC, with a stipend of $100,000. During the programme, Fellows build technical and leadership skills while contributing to research and policy design.

Fellowships are open annually to young professionals, mid-career professionals, and new executives from Africa with relevant work experience and a master’s degree. Fellows are placed with one of the host organisations: the African Development Bank (Abidjan), UNECA (Addis Ababa), or the International Trade Centre (Geneva).

Fellows are selected as part of the programme’s purpose to identify and mentor outstanding African leaders. A special feature described for Fellows is direct mentorship from the heads of the host organisations.

Support is provided through 12-month programmes. Fellows also become members of the Now Generation Network (NGN), where they continue to contribute their skills and insights to building a better Africa.

• Relevant work experience: minimum 7 years of relevant work experience

• Age: under the age of 40; or 45 for women with children
