The University of Queensland Hidden Vale Wildlife Conservation Top-up Scholarship in Australia

The Hidden Vale Wildlife Centre is a long term innovative partnership between UQ and The Turner Family Foundation, facilitating applied wildlife and ecology research and teaching on the Spicers Hidden Vale retreat property near Grandchester in South East Queensland. The Hidden Vale Wildlife Centre provides hands-on access to resources and support to allow students to make outstanding contributions to developing next-generation wildlife management and conservation techniques.

Eligibility

You’re eligible if you’re a:

  • Doctor of Philosophy candidates researching wildlife conservation, ecology or biology in association with the Hidden Vale Wildlife Project.

And you:

  • complete this PhD full-time and onshore in Australia.
  • are nominated by an enrolling school or institute at the University of Queensland (UQ).
  • are assessed by the UQ Graduate School as meeting all conditions for admission to the research higher degree program.

If you’re a future student you’ll also need to satisfy the entry requirements for Higher Degrees by Research at UQ and conditions for a Research Training Program (RTP) or equivalent living allowance scholarship from UQ’s Graduate School.

If you’re a current student you must be in receipt of a living allowance scholarship of at least $28,092 for the year of study (but indexed annually) to be eligible to receive this top-up.

You will need:

  • academic transcript
  • referee details
  • evidence of living allowance
  • 500 word project description
  • details of your advisory team
  • letter of motivation explaining how your project can help achieve the aims of the Hidden Vale Wildlife Project.

 

Rules

All philanthropic scholarship recipients must adhere to the conditions of UQ research and travel scholarships, including reporting and progress requirements.

Holders of these philanthropic scholarships must acknowledge them in any paper that is published as a result of the research conducted while the recipient held the scholarship.

Donors may also invite the recipient to present on the work conducted as part of the scholarship, in which case they must comply or risk losing the scholarship.
