Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (course code: CVE) at Mbarara University of Science and Technology is an undergraduate programme in the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology. The entry requirements include different routes such as direct entry with Mathematics, Physics, and at least a subsidiary pass in Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Technical Drawing, or Computer Studies, as well as diploma and mature entry pathways.

The programme has a duration of 4 years and is offered full time. Tuition and functional fees are listed separately for Ugandan and international students, with international tuition fees shown as 2,000,000 and functional fees shown as 1,100,000.

Direct Entry

• Two principal passes in Mathematics and Physics and at least a subsidiary pass in Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Technical Drawing, Computer Studies

Diploma Entry

• Diploma in Civil Engineering
• Any relevant Diploma in Engineering

Mature Entry

• Must be 25 years and above and fulfill the Mature Age Entry Scheme requirements of Mbarara University of Science and Technology

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes
• Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 2 principal passes.
• Diploma holders must have passed with at least a credit.

Additionally, for admission to any Diploma programme

• Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes
• Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 1 principal pass and two subsidiary passes

For international applicants

• Applicants whose first language or medium of instruction is not English must provide evidence from a recognized English language training institution that they have sufficient command of English language.
• Applicants should have their documents equated by Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) of UCE and UACE documents and Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE) for Diploma and Certificate documents.
