Diploma in Education in Early Childhood Care and Development

The Diploma in Education in Early Childhood Care and Development at Nkumba University targets people who want experience handling matters related to early childhood care and development. It is designed as an undergraduate programme and equips students with knowledge and skills for work in early childhood education and care, including children’s development across physical, cognitive, emotional, and social areas.

Students cover topics such as curriculum development, classroom management, assessment and evaluation, and family and community partnerships. The programme has a duration of two years. On graduation, it leads to employment opportunities in roles such as preschool or kindergarten teachers, childcare center directors, program coordinators, and family support specialists.

• A Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with a minimum of 5 passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.
• Uganda Advanced Level Certificate (UACE) with at least one Principal Pass, and 2 subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.
• A certificate obtained after 2 years of post UCE study from a recognized institution.
• Any equivalent Certificate besides UCE and UACE from a recognized institution.
