Bachelor of Science in Physics

The Department of Physics offers a Bachelor of Science in Physics that builds core physics knowledge and a set of elective options. Students develop critical thinking, core physics understanding, and scientific and technical skills such as problem solving, advanced mathematics, modeling and simulations, coding, and data processing and analysis, along with communication skills for scientific and professional audiences.

The degree uses a structured credit requirement. It includes University General Education Requirements (48 credits), Mathematics/Science/Engineering Electives (3 credits), and Major Requirements totaling 73 credits. Major Requirements include Additional Mathematics and Science Requirements (10 credits), Physics Core Requirements (54 credits), Physics Technical Electives Requirements (6 credits), and Free Electives (3 credits). Learning includes studio-format, lecture-format, and laboratory classes using classroom tools and equipment for instructional safety.
