Khalifa University provides postgraduate admissions information for Master’s and PhD programs. The page includes minimum criteria for graduate applicants, along with an online application process and required documents.

For Master’s degree programs, applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or equivalent), meet English proficiency requirements, and provide at least two referee recommendations via an online form. Applicants also need a statement of purpose and an admission interview.

For PhD programs, the page lists requirements for Regular PhD applicants (with a Master’s degree) and Direct PhD applicants (without a Master’s degree). Both Regular and Direct PhD applicants require English proficiency, at least two referee recommendations, a statement of purpose, a research statement, and an admission interview. Direct PhD applicants also need a minimum quantitative GRE score of 150, with attempts at all three GRE sections.

• Program level: Master’s degree program or PhD program (Regular PhD or Direct PhD).
• Master’s degree program: completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum cumulative CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or equivalent).
• Doctorate (Regular PhD): completion of a Bachelor’s degree with minimum cumulative CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or equivalent), and completion of a Master’s degree with minimum CGPA of 3.25 out of 4.0 (or equivalent).
• Doctorate (Direct PhD): completion of a Bachelor’s degree with minimum cumulative CGPA of 3.5 out of 4.0 (or equivalent).
• Direct PhD: minimum quantitative score of 150 in the general Graduate Record Examination (GRE), and applicants must attempt all three sections of the GRE.
• English proficiency (Master’s and PhD): minimum English proficiency via either TOEFL iBT score of 91 (TOEFL iBT Home Edition not accepted) or equivalent, or overall academic IELTS score of 6.5.
• English language test exemptions (subject to review and approval): native English speaker from specified countries/regions; or graduate from an English-medium institution with evidence of minimum overall academic IELTS score of 6.0, or minimum TOEFL iBT score of 79 (or equivalent), at the time of admission to the completed Bachelor’s/Master’s degree program.
• English requirement evidence: all applicants must upload evidence of meeting the English language requirement with their application, even if eligible for an exemption.
• Referee recommendations: minimum of two referee recommendations provided via an online form.
• Statement of purpose: required; length 500–1,000 words for Master’s and for PhD applicants (as stated).
• Master’s and PhD selection includes an admission interview.
• Research statement: required for PhD applicants only; length 500–1,000 words.
• Modes of study: students can be admitted on a full-time or part-time basis depending on the program; direct Bachelor’s to PhD applicants must study on a full-time basis.
• Application completeness: incomplete applications will not be considered.
• Document ownership: all documents received by the University are the property of Khalifa University of Science and Technology and will not be returned.
• Registration documents: accepted applicants must submit all official documents before registering for classes; failure cancels class registration.

• Equivalency certificate issued by the UAE Ministry of Education for applicants that have graduated from institutions outside of the UAE.
• Official school transcript showing the grading scale.
• English language proficiency score certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, or EmSAT).
• Official TOEFL score reports (can be sent directly to Khalifa University of Science and Technology using institutional TOEFL code 0960).
• Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score report (can be sent directly using institutional GRE code 0822).
• Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
• Statement of Purpose (500 to 1,000 words).
• Passport-style photograph on a white background.
• Copy of valid passport; international applicants residing in the UAE must also upload a clear copy of their valid UAE visa.
• Copy of Family Book (Khulasat Al Qaid) for UAE National applicants only.
• Valid UAE national ID card (for national and international applicants currently residing in the UAE).
• Research Statement (500 to 1,000 words) for PhD applicants only.
