Accounting MSc

The Accounting MSc at University of Wales, Bangor develops your understanding of the role of accounting for decision-making inside and outside organisations. You study organisations, the role of accounting for internal and external users, and the changing external context. The programme includes compulsory modules such as Accounting Theory, Research Methods, Financial Analysis, Management Accounting, Advanced Financial Reporting and Regulation, and Advanced Audit and Assurance, plus optional study in areas like Investment Strategy and Portfolio Management or International Financial Markets.

The degree lasts 1 year and is delivered full time. For the January intake, taught modules run from January to June and September to January, covering 120 credits. The dissertation (or equivalent) is valued at 60 credits and runs from June to September. For the September intake, taught modules run from September to June, with the dissertation (or equivalent) again valued at 60 credits from June to September. The CFA specialist pathway supports preparation to complete CFA Level 1, with no additional fees for students undertaking the pathway.

Candidates should have a good first degree at 2(ii) or higher or equivalent from a university or another approved degree-awarding body. Non-graduate qualifications deemed to be of a satisfactory standard for the purpose of postgraduate admission may also be considered. Work experience is desirable.

• Prior study of accounting (as part of the first degree, for example) or experience of working within the field of accounting is essential.
