The University of Abertay Dundee’s MSc Applied Artificial Intelligence and User Experience is a practical master’s that combines AI, Data, UX and Psychology. Students learn to apply psychology and AI principles when designing and evaluating systems, enrich AI solutions through UX research and interaction design, and use data, AI and applied psychology to inform and iterate prototypes. The course also examines ethical responsibilities in AI applications.
Full-time students complete the degree in one year across three terms, including a Master’s project in term 3. Part-time students study over two years with two terms in year one, three in year two, and the project in the final term. Abertay states that the programme includes projects, group work, and where possible, work placements, with a Master’s project as an independent research project under supervisor guidance.
Abertay says this MSc suits applicants with a degree in computing, engineering, maths, physics, psychology, game design, or a related science, plus some experience of scripting to apply it to AI, data and UX problems. The programme is intended to lead to roles such as UX or UI designer focused on AI-driven products, UX researcher or human–AI interaction specialist, data scientist or machine learning software engineer, and AI architect or AI product specialist.
