BA Film Studies and

BA Film Studies and… introduces students to the histories, theories, and practices of global cinema cultures (particularly from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, and their diasporas). Students learn to understand and analyse contemporary audiovisual media through these cinematic cultures, with a focus on how film relates to broader socio-political issues.

Film teaching includes lectures (in-person and online), interactive seminars, and screenings. Assessments include written essays and presentations, and creative options such as film festival programmes and video essays. Full-time study works through modules taught over 10 or 20 weeks, with 120 credits per year across modules of 60, 30, or 15 credits.
