BA International Relations

The BA International Relations at SOAS, University of London provides grounding in the complex cultural issues of global politics. Students explore political issues of Africa, Asia and the Middle East, covering mainstream approaches to the study of world politics, critiques, and a historicised appreciation of how Western-centric lenses formed. The programme is interdisciplinary, drawing on political science, global history, political economy and sociology to study international relations and foreign policy across thematic areas and regional politics.

Students attend on campus full-time. SOAS lists duration as 3 or 4 years, with a study structure based on taking modules totaling 120 credits in each year. Students choose from disciplinary and regional modules within the Politics Department, and can take modules from other departments at SOAS as part of 'open options'. Students may apply for an optional year abroad in their second year, subject to academic merit and a personal statement, and eligibility requires achieving 55% or higher in the first year.
