BSc Hons Veterinary Biosciences

Scotland's Rural College (SRUC) offers the BSc (Hons) Veterinary Biosciences. Students study animal anatomy and physiology, genetics, microbiology, nutrition, animal welfare, conservation, and infectious disease. The programme also covers the ethical and scientific principles that underpin animal science and the practical tools used to assess and enhance animals’ lives.

Teaching combines lectures, laboratory classes, fieldwork, and independent research. Students develop practical and analytical skills through hands-on learning in SRUC specialist facilities. The programme includes ongoing research and industry projects, with transferable skills in data handling, experimental design, problem-solving, and professional communication, plus a final Honours Project.

Standard Entry Requirements: 4 Highers at ABBB to include Biology, Human Biology or Chemistry. Applicants should be able to offer National 5 (A-C) or equivalent (for literacy) and in Maths (for numeracy).

Minimum Entry Requirements: 4 Highers at BBCC to include Biology, Human Biology or Chemistry. Applicants should be able to offer National 5 (A-C) or equivalent (for literacy) and in Maths (for numeracy).

• Year 2 - Advanced Entry: Advanced Highers at BB including Biology or Chemistry plus 4 Highers at ABBB to include Biology, Human Biology or Chemistry. Applicants should be able to offer National 5 (A-C) or equivalent (for literacy) and in Maths (for numeracy).
• Year 2 - Advanced Entry: 3 A-Levels AAB, including Biology or Chemistry, with GCSE passes in Maths and English.
• Year 2 - Advanced Entry: Applicants undertaking relevant HNC and HND qualifications may be considered for advanced entry. Please contact the Admissions Team ([email protected]) to discuss further.
• Comparable Qualifications: 3 A-Levels BBB, including Biology or Chemistry. Applicants should be able to offer GCSE's (9-4) in Maths and English.
• Comparable Qualifications: JCPA plus 4 Irish Leaving Certificate subjects at Higher Level at H2, H2, H2, H2, including Biology or Chemistry.
