Southampton Solent University’s BSc (Hons) Construction Quantity Surveying Degree Apprenticeship helps you build construction cost management knowledge while working in the construction industry. The programme develops skills in economics and financial management, estimating and tendering, sustainability, and technology of complex buildings. You also study construction management, contracts management, project evaluation and development, and quantity surveying practice.
You learn through directed learning, collaborative learning, guided learning, and the University’s online learning platform Solent Online Learning (SOL). Assessment includes coursework, assignments, individual and group projects, practical activities, reports, written exams, a final major project, and individual presentations. You apply what you study to your workplace, complete regular progress reviews, and undertake an end-point assessment.
This apprenticeship is aimed at people who have completed the Construction Quantity Surveyor Technician apprenticeship or who hold an HNC in a relevant subject, and who are in suitable employment to enrol. It leads to chartered membership of the Chartered Institute Of Building (MCIOB) without the need for any further assessment, and supports progression to construction cost management roles at chartered level.
