Diploma in Engineering

Cardiff and Vale College’s Diploma in Engineering is the Engineering Technologies (Advanced / Enhanced) programme at Level 3. Students study Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Electronics, Electrical Installation, 2D CAD, Mechanical Engineering, Maths, and Mechanical/electrical workshop practice. The college says this course develops knowledge and practical skills that can lead to a career in Electrical, Mechanical, Maintenance, Building Services or Design Engineering.

The course is full time and runs from 1 September to 24 June at Barry Campus. Students complete written and practical assignments and a portfolio. The college also notes the time of day as Day Time and that the full-time programme is 20.5 hours per week.

5 GCSEs Grade A* - C to include Maths A* - C (or equivalent) and English at A*-C OR a suitable level 2 Engineering qualification at Merit grade or above with either an appropriate Maths unit graded merit or above, or Grade A* - C in GCSE Maths. Successful candidates will require PPE for this course, including steel toe cap boots and overalls.
