The SOAS LLM Environmental Law and Sustainable Development provides a specialised focus on environmental law and sustainable development, with modules that connect environmental law to human and social issues and include repeated human rights dimensions. Students take a taught module set alongside a dissertation, working with topics such as Law and Natural Resources, Water Justice: Rights, Access and Movements, and Law, Environment and Social Justice.
The programme requires modules totalling 180 credits, including an LLM Dissertation in Law (60 credits) and 120 credits of taught modules worth either 15 or 30 credits. Students aiming for a specialised LLM must take at least 60 credits from the Environmental Law and Sustainable Development specialist pathway options. Attendance is available as full-time or part-time, with campus delivery.
A 2:1 degree in a relevant undergraduate degree.
If you have a lower degree classification, your application may be considered if you can present a strong case, either through relevant work experience, other legal qualifications, or a strong supporting statement. References are not required, but can help build a stronger application if you fall below the 2:1 requirement or have non-traditional qualifications.
