The University of Wales, Swansea’s MA Cyber Crime and Terrorism focuses on the changing nature of online crime, terrorism and criminal behaviour. You study criminological theory and topics linked to cyber crime, terrorism and cybersecurity, including ethical questions. Core modules include Crime in Cyberspace, Cyber Security, Online Propaganda and Radicalisation, Human Rights and Terrorism Online, Research Methods and Ethics, and Countering Violent Extremism Online.
The programme totals 180 credits: six 20-credit modules and a 60-credit dissertation. Students complete three 20-credit modules in the first and second semester, then move to the dissertation element. In the summer semester, most students complete a dissertation of 15,000 words on a unique topic under close guidance. A small number of students complete a research project with one day per week spent on an internship with a partner institution, plus a 12,000-word report and a 2,000-word reflective portfolio.
