Southampton Solent University’s MSc Applied Sports Injuries, Rehabilitation and Performance helps students develop and apply expertise in sport and exercise therapy, physiotherapy, or sports rehabilitation. The programme focuses on advanced clinical practice in sport, with specialist modules in acute sports trauma, physical rehabilitation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sports injuries.
Students study through core modules including Assessment and Evaluation of the Athlete, Management and Rehabilitation of Athletes, Applied Research Methods and Study Design, Professional Practice in Sport, Applied Techniques in Sport and Exercise Science, and an Independent Research Project. The course includes a mentored professional placement at a sports club, plus practical experience in modern sports science labs and a sports therapy treatment suite. Students have the opportunity to undertake the FA level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF) as part of the course.
