Amir Ghaffari Scholarship at Queen Mary University of London

The Amir Ghaffari Scholarship is offered by the School of Law at Queen Mary University of London for the Comparative and International Dispute Resolution LLM (full-time study mode only). The scholarship provides full international student tuition fees and is offset against the student fee invoice rather than paid directly to the recipient.

Applicants must have a conditional or unconditional offer for the specific Comparative and International Dispute Resolution LLM programme. The scholarship is for applicants who are full-time students and are of Iranian heritage (defined as having at least one grandparent born in Iran). Applicants may have either UK or International fees status, and they must have made a Programme of Study application for this LLM programme by the stated programme application deadline. Applicants must not be in receipt of funding from another source.

Queen Mary will award the scholarship to applicants they deem to have successfully demonstrated reasoning for being awarded the scholarship based on academic merit, professional achievements (if any), and financial need. The compulsory personal statement must address these areas and be in response to the prompt in the “How to apply” section.

The successful candidate is required to submit a two A4-page report to the Donor at the end of the academic year outlining progress and content of the Scholar’s practice and how the recipient benefited. The recipient may also be asked to assist with marketing events and support the School of Law in promoting the scholarship, and the page notes that scholarship applications and awards cannot be deferred.

2. Submit a 1000-word (maximum) personal statement responding to the required prompt, including why you want to study the LLM in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution at Queen Mary University of London, specifying modules of particular interest, what you will bring to the programme, and why you feel you should be awarded a scholarship, focusing on academic and professional achievements (if relevant) and financial need.
3. Upload the documents listed under “Documents required” to the Queen Mary application portal with your programme application.
4. Ensure the scholarship application is complete and submitted correctly; incomplete, incorrect, or late scholarship applications will not be accepted or processed.
5. Wait for the outcome; all applicants will be notified approximately by the beginning of July 2025.
