Durham University Hatfield Lioness Scholarship

Hatfield College is offering the Guy Beresford Scholarship of £15,000 for a full-time student from the North East of England (including Cumbria) and from a lower income household. It is for study full-time for a STEM taught masters degree at Durham University.

The scholarship is aimed at applicants applying for a taught master’s course in a STEM subject at Durham University. Eligible courses include programmes based in a Department within the Science Faculty, plus specific Master of Science programmes listed by Hatfield College from the Department of Archaeology and from Geography.

Applications are considered on a rolling basis over the summer. Applicants who fit the eligibility criteria, including current Durham students, are welcome to apply, and successful candidates would need an offer in time for the beginning of the academic year.

Support is provided as a scholarship amount of £15,000, for full-time study of an eligible STEM taught master’s degree at Durham University.

• Applying for a taught masters course in a STEM subject at Durham University.
• Applicants may apply even if they have not yet received an offer of study, but the successful candidate would need to have received an offer in time for the beginning of the academic year.
• Eligible courses are: programmes based in a Department within the Science Faculty; and the Master of Science programmes offered by the Department of Archaeology: Bioarchaeology, Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology and Human Bioarchaeology and Palaeopathology; and from Geography: MSc in Climate, Risk and Society and MSc in Environmental Hazards and Risks.
• Have been from a lower income household in the final year of their undergraduate degree.
• Lower income household status is tested through evidence of the assessment by Student Finance England of income data made available to the awardee’s University in the final year of their undergraduate studies, or, in the absence of evidence of a recent such assessment, by other relevant means as defined by the University.
• Be from the North East of England, using eligible home postcode regions: CA, DH, DL, NE, SR or TS.
• Current Durham students are welcome to apply.
• Must be a full-time student.
