Durham University UK Hatfield Lioness Postgraduate Scholarship

Durham University’s Hatfield College states that the aim of the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship (PGT) is to enable a female student from a developing country with limited access to tertiary education to benefit from undertaking postgraduate study at Durham University. The scholarship is funded by Hatfield College alumni, friends of the College, and other sources supportive of the scholarship’s aims.

Hatfield College states that applicants must be or identify as a woman and be a national of one of the listed countries. It applies to full-time taught master’s degree programmes at Durham University, excluding MBA, PhD and research master’s programmes.

Hatfield College describes a two-stage process. Applicants first apply to Durham University for their chosen master’s programme and reference their intention to apply for the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship. Applicants are then considered by Hatfield College via a separate Lioness Scholarship application submitted by the College deadline with supporting documents.

The scholarship is stated to cover tuition fees, a stipend for living expenses, mixed accommodation at Hatfield College (self-catered or fully catered), a return economy air ticket plus specified return travel within the UK, a settling in allowance on arrival, and the cost of UK visa and the UK Health surcharge. Restrictions state it does not provide funding for dependants and does not fund travel during the scholarship; accommodation is for the scholarship holder only.

• Level & Mode of study: Full Time Taught Master’s Degree programmes.
• Applicants should hold a relevant honours degree of sufficient standard to be admitted to their chosen Master’s course.
• Applicants should have all other course entry requirements including the relevant English language qualification.
• Applicants must not hold a Master’s degree.
• Applicants must not otherwise have the financial means to study for a Master’s degree in the UK.
• Programmes: All except MBA, PhD and research Master's programmes.
• Restrictions: the scholarship does not provide funding for dependants; accommodation is for the Scholarship holder only; dependants cannot be accommodated.

1. Stage 1: Submit an academic application and the necessary documentation for the chosen master’s programme at Durham University, referencing the intention to apply for the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship within the application.
