Imperial College London UK Offers GREAT Scholarships for International Students

Imperial College London offers the GREAT - Imperial College London Scholarship in partnership with the British Council and the UK government's GREAT Britain Campaign. Imperial describes the programme as providing financial support for students pursuing one-year postgraduate study at Imperial.

The scholarships are aimed at students from France, Egypt, Ghana, and Nigeria applying for postgraduate courses in Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Business subjects. Imperial states that applicants must be classified as Overseas for fee status and apply for a one-year full-time Master's course (on-campus courses only).

Imperial describes a selection process that includes a GREAT Scholarship application form, where the scholarship application will assess circumstances and ability to cover the remainder of costs not covered by the scholarship (including the remainder of tuition fees and the estimated cost of living). Imperial also requires that students meet College English entry requirements by the programme’s stated English deadline, with pre-sessional English courses not supported by this programme.

Imperial states the scholarship is for students starting in the Autumn entry and cannot be deferred. Imperial also explains that successful scholars are expected to meet informally with the donors on occasions and must submit a short statement of progress each year that will be shared with the donors. Awards are subject to students accepting award Terms and Conditions.

• Hold a valid passport and be a resident of one of the eligible countries: France, Egypt, Ghana, or Nigeria.
• Be classified as Overseas for fee status.
• Apply for a one-year full-time Master’s course (on-campus courses only).
• Receive an offer of admissions to study for a one-year full-time Master’s course by the stated offer deadline.
• Be available to commence academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in Autumn (entry described as Autumn entry period).
• Be ineligible if the course is an on-line/distance learning course.
• Be ineligible if the course duration is longer than one year.
• Applicants who are awarded the scholarship must have met College English entry requirements (Pre-sessional English courses are not supported by this programme) by the programme’s stated English deadline.

• £15,000 towards tuition fees.
• The scholarship can only be used towards tuition fees.

1. Stage 1: Apply for a one-year full-time Master’s course at Imperial College London through the standard College application procedure, and obtain an offer of admission by the stated offer deadline.
2. When applying online through My Imperial, select an eligible country (France, Egypt, Ghana, or Nigeria) in “Nationality” as either primary or secondary nationality, and select one of the eligible countries in “Residency” as your country of permanent residence.
3. Stage 2: Eligible candidates will be invited to apply for the scholarship after they have received an offer for the Autumn entry period; Imperial states they will be contacted via email with an invitation to complete a GREAT Scholarship application form.
4. The scholarship application assesses circumstances and ability to cover the remainder of costs not covered by the scholarship (including the remainder of tuition fees and the estimated cost of living).
