Leeds Masters Scholarships for International Students, England

The University of Leeds offers Leeds Masters Scholarships worth £7,000 for students from underrepresented groups to support Masters study at Leeds. The value is provided either as a fee waiver or as monthly payments, depending on the option chosen in the scholarship arrangements.

The scholarship applies to postgraduate study and covers Masters programmes that lead directly to an MA, MBA, MEd, MMus, MPH, MRes, MSc, LLM, or Masters by Research qualification. Applicants must be paying postgraduate tuition fees at the UK rate and must start a full-time, part-time, or distance-learning Masters programme at the University in September or October.

Selection uses a scoring process that considers both financial and non-financial criteria. Applicants must meet all main criteria and one financial criterion. Meeting criteria does not guarantee a scholarship, and the University can request evidence only after provisional selection or when a candidate is a reserve candidate.

Payments are based on the recipient’s choice: cash payments are made in eight instalments of £875 after the University has verified registration, or the scholarship may be applied as a fee waiver by reducing the fee balance after registration is verified. The £7,000 is split evenly across years of study if the programme runs over multiple years, and the scholarship cannot be used as a pre-registration fee waiver.

• For Student Finance England funded students, Maintenance Loan evidence requirements are listed by study year and study location/parental home status.
• If funded by Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland or the Student Awards Agency for Scotland, applicants must evidence receipt of NI Special Support Grant or SAAS Bursary, or a Student Finance Wales Maintenance Grant of £3,000 or more, for at least one year of study.
• All other applicants must provide evidence of individual, gross taxable income during the 2024/25 tax year of no more than £49,530 if they lived in the Greater London region, or £33,577 if they lived anywhere else in the rest of the UK.
• Excluded courses include integrated Undergraduate and Masters degrees.
• Excluded courses include 100% online Masters courses delivered by the Digital Education Service.

• Value: £7,000.
• Benefit type options: fee waiver or monthly cash payments.
• If paid directly: £7,000 is paid in eight cash instalments of £875 after registration verification.
• If paid as a fee waiver: the scholarship amount is taken off the fee balance after registration verification; the recipient remains responsible for paying any remainder under the normal terms and conditions of tuition fee payments.
• Payment period for cash option: paid from the end of October to the end of May.
• If studying over multiple years: the £7,000 is split evenly among all years of study.

3. Submit the scholarship application; the scoring process considers both financial and non-financial criteria.
