Northumbria International Scholarship

Northumbria University’s UK International Scholarship provides a £3,000 tuition fee discount on most full-time Postgraduate Taught programmes at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus. It is for PGT students joining Northumbria University starting in September or January, and it is applied automatically as a fee discount.

Eligible applicants must be international students with ‘Overseas’ or 'EU' fee status and currently studying within the UK at a UK-based institution (other than Northumbria). The scholarship is for full-time Postgraduate Taught courses at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus, and qualifying courses must meet all individual course requirements.

The scholarship is applied automatically, so applicants do not need to make a separate application. Exempt courses are listed, and some students may become ineligible if they transfer between routes after the start of their course by more than four weeks. Northumbria University’s decision is final and there is no right of appeal.

The scholarship is awarded as a tuition fee discount (not a cash sum). If a student defers their place, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn. The scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with other discounts or scholarships, and it is only available to Newcastle Upon Tyne campus students.

• Currently studying within the UK at a UK-based institution: A Level 6 Undergraduate Degree
• Self-funded student (not in receipt of any sponsorship)
• Accepted and enrolled on a Full-Time Postgraduate Taught course at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus, starting in September 2026 or January 2027
• Meet all individual course requirements
• Not exempt by the listed course exclusions (including any Advanced Practice or Study Abroad Masters course and specific Pre-Registration Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy/Nursing Science/Midwifery Studies courses, plus Social Work MA and specified Legal Practice courses)
• Not eligible: sponsored students
• Not eligible: Current NU Undergraduate students (may be eligible for Alumni Discount, with terms and conditions apply)
• Not eligible: students progressing from a partner institute where reduced fees and bespoke offers have been agreed
• Students transferring from Advanced Practice or Study Abroad Masters to the non-Advanced Practice or non-study Abroad route more than four weeks after the start of their course are not eligible
• Qualifying courses must be studied at in the UK; UK qualifications studied overseas do not count
• The scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with other discounts or scholarships
• If you defer your place, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn

1. Do not submit a separate scholarship application, as the UK International Scholarship is applied automatically as a fee discount.
2. Ensure you meet the Terms and Conditions, including self-funded status, ‘Overseas’ or 'EU' fee status, current UK study at a UK-based institution other than Northumbria, and acceptance/enrolment on a full-time PGT course at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus starting in September 2026 or January 2027.
3. Confirm your course is eligible and not listed as an exempt course.
4. After acceptance, note that if you defer your place, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn.
