Northumbria University Sports Scholarship /

Northumbria Sport offers a tailored sports scholarship programme to support around 175 student athletes each year across a range of sports. Northumbria Sport scholarships are described as support for athletes on their dual career, enabling them to develop sporting ability while gaining a quality degree. Northumbria Sport also describes professional support staff working together to provide multi-disciplinary support in a high-performance environment.

Applicants should be of academy, national or international standard in their sport, or show strong evidence of future outstanding potential. Applicants must successfully achieve a place on a course at Northumbria University, Newcastle, or already be studying there. All courses are eligible, including both undergraduate and postgraduate. Applicants must be home or international students studying at least 60 credits a year, and priority is given to Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth sports and/or sports within the BUCS programme, with other sports considered on a case-by-case basis.

Northumbria Sport states that scholarships are available to current students and any prospective student applying to study at Northumbria University. It also notes that a selection of scholarships are awarded by external parties but housed through Northumbria Sport.
