UK University of Brighton International Visiting Research Fellowship

The Centre for Design History (University of Brighton) CDH International Visiting Research Fellow provides funded support for an established external researcher to spend time at CDH to pursue research within CDH themes and collaborate with CDH members.

• In receipt of a doctorate or equivalent professional experience.
• If you have been awarded a PhD within the past 24 months, see the CDH Post-doc VRF call.

• Financial support to cover travel, accommodation, and research-related expenses, subject to final approval from the University of Brighton, including up to £1000 for general travel, accommodation, and research costs.
• CDH covers an administrative fee of £200 as part of the funding.
• No salary or stipend is included.
• Access to CDH research training events and activities.
• A sponsor (a member of CDH academic staff) plus CDH administrative support.
• Access to the University of Brighton Design Archives Reading Room if required (appointments must be booked in advance of your stay to ensure availability).
• A University of Brighton campus card for access to University facilities and resources, such as the library.
• Access to Information Services (including libraries) and to computer, printing and copying facilities.
• A University of Brighton email address.
• Support for visa purposes where needed: CDH can provide a letter created by the University’s legal team with formal start/end dates and an outline of role specifics (applicants are advised to specify visa needs in the proposal and allow sufficient time for processing).

1. Submit a CV and a detailed proposal (about 500 words) for the internal selection process.
2. Include the required proposal contents: a comprehensive outline of the research to be conducted (about 500 words); details of collaborative activities and outcomes; a brief budget indicating how expenses will be utilised; the duration and format of the planned fellowship including plans to be in Brighton, plus a preferred VRF start date; details of any visa requirements; and a statement of support (about 200 words) from a CDH sponsor demonstrating their investment in the collaboration.

4. If selected internally by CDH, work with your CDH sponsor to complete an application form and IT registration form for central approval by the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange team.
