UK University of Kent Chevening Scholarships

The University of Kent offers Chevening Scholarships, which include a full tuition fee waiver, a monthly stipend, travel costs to and from the UK, the cost of a visa application, and a travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK. Chevening Scholarships are funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FDCO) and partner organisations, and are described as the UK government’s global scholarship programme for postgraduate study in the UK.

The University of Kent states it welcomes applications from all Chevening-eligible countries for any one-year taught master’s degree based at its UK campuses. Applicants must apply to three different eligible UK university courses and receive an unconditional offer from one of those choices. The criteria also state that Chevening Scholars must be based in the UK when studying.

Selection eligibility requires meeting the Chevening Scholarship criteria listed by the programme, including citizenship, work experience, an undergraduate degree enabling entry to a one-year postgraduate programme at Kent, and receiving an unconditional offer from one chosen course. The programme further indicates that eligibility includes agreement to return home after the scholarship ends.

• Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country
• Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your scholarship has ended
• Have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry to a one year postgraduate programme at Kent
• Have had at least two years’ work experience acquired after completing your undergraduate degree
• Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by 08 July 2027
• Chevening Scholars must be based in the UK when studying
• Not hold a British or dual British citizenship
• Not hold refugee status in a country not eligible for Chevening
• Not be a resident of the UK at the time of application
• Not be an employee, an immediate relative of an employee, or a former employee of a government department, the British Council, a partner UK university, or any of their wholly owned subsidiaries
• Not have previously studied in UK on a UK government-funded scholarship
• Not be able to apply for a Graduate Route Visa (Chevening scholars cannot apply for a Graduate Route Visa)
• Apply to Kent for a Chevening award consideration by selecting the university as their first preference within the Chevening application
