UK University of St Andrews International Excellence Scholarship

The International Excellence Scholarship is provided by the University of St Andrews for overseas fee status students who will be studying at St Andrews for an undergraduate degree starting in. The scholarship is available through the University of St Andrews International Undergraduate Scholarships application form.

The scholarship is aimed at prospective undergraduate students with overseas domicile for fee status. It is available for full time and part time (daytime) study in many named schools and departments. It excludes Medicine and excludes BA International Honours joint courses with William and Mary.

Selection is based on academic excellence. The Selection Committee seeks gifted students with academic excellence, and successful scholars are expected to serve as a Student Ambassador and represent the University at a number of events. The application includes free text boxes to explain how the applicant meets eligibility criteria.

The scholarship is paid annually for the duration of the undergraduate programme. Recipients are expected to engage with the Student Ambassadors Scheme, with work that may involve outreach activities and assisting Admissions staff with events aimed at prospective students.

• Full tuition fees (one award)

1. Apply through the University of St Andrews International Undergraduate Scholarships application form.
2. Use the scholarship and funding catalogue in the Scholarships and Funding section of My application.
3. After applying for a course beginning in the academic year 2027, wait for login details for the My application portal and allow at least two working days for processing and issue of your login details before applying for the scholarship.
4. Complete the scholarship application form, including providing one academic reference and one personal reference and a statement of motivation (maximum 2000 characters) in the application form.

• One academic reference (teacher, Head of Year or Principle if at school; or advisor of studies or academic tutor if currently studying at university). Must be on headed/letterheaded paper, maximum one A4 page, signed and dated by the referee.One personal reference (from someone who knows you well and can vouch for non-academic qualities). Maximum one A4 page.Statement of motivation (maximum 2000 characters; included as part of the application form, not a document upload).If unable to upload references: upload a document detailing the name and email address of your referee and ask them to email the reference to [email protected] by the scholarship deadline.
