University of Birmingham UK Masters Scholarship

The University of Birmingham Birmingham Masters Scholarship is a University award valued at £3,000 through a tuition fee discount. It is part of the University’s scholarship commitment to Home postgraduate students and aims to support students to commence their taught Masters study.

The scheme is open to Home fee-paying students who have not previously studied at the University of Birmingham. Applicants must be commencing an eligible taught Masters degree in January or September. The award covers full postgraduate taught 180-credit Masters degrees including LLM, MA (Taught), MSc (Pre-reg), MSc (Taught), MPH, MEd, MBA, and MPA, and applies to eligible courses delivered at the Edgbaston Campus, Stratford-upon-Avon, partnered institutions, or by distance learning.

Eligibility to receive the scholarship is determined by a University selection panel. The criteria include academic excellence and previous study, professional qualifications and achievements, and priority for applicants who have graduated from Midlands-based universities.

The scholarship provides a £3,000 fee waiver applied directly to tuition fees, and it cannot be exchanged for monetary value or paid directly to the recipient. After accepting the scholarship, recipients must accept their study offer and complete online registration to receive the tuition fee waiver, with delays in registration potentially delaying the scholarship payment. Offers are bound to the scholarship terms and conditions and may be revoked if terms are not met.

• Applicants must be self-funding or applying for a postgraduate government loan to pay fees and living expenses
• Applicants must not already be registered on a postgraduate degree course
• Applicants must be commencing a full postgraduate taught 180-credits Masters course in an eligible subject
• Applicants of any nationality can apply if they are eligible for Home fee status
• International students are not eligible for this scholarship funding

1. Submit an application to the intended Masters programme through the relevant programme page on the Course finder section of the University of Birmingham website, including all relevant supporting documentation (references, transcripts if available, and English language certification if applicable), by the scholarship deadline.
2. Complete the Birmingham Masters Scholarships application form.
3. Enter the application ID number given during the Masters programme application; if the correct ID number is not entered, the Masters application may be void or processed with a delay.
4. If made a reserve in a round, no re-application to the scholarship scheme is required because the application will be automatically carried over into the following rounds.
5. To accept the scholarship, complete the acceptance form in the awarding email by the deadline stated in that email. If you decline or do not respond by that deadline, the scholarship will be reallocated.
6. After accepting, accept your study offer and complete online registration to receive the £3,000 tuition fee waiver; delays in completing online registration may delay the scholarship payment.
