University of Bolton Academic Excellence Scholarships

The University of Greater Manchester International Excellence Scholarships recognise academic achievement and support talented international students to study at the University of Greater Manchester. The scheme offers tuition fee discounts of up to £4,000 for eligible students across undergraduate, postgraduate taught and doctoral programmes, with additional awards available for specific groups.

Global Excellence Package is available to self-funded students applying directly (not via an agent or government sponsor) from selected countries. International Merit Package applies to applicants from other countries and to applicants using a representative partner or agent. Award levels are Gold, Silver and Bronze, with different tuition fee discount amounts by package.

All International Excellence Scholarships are awarded for the first year of study only and are based on academic merit. Global Scholars Awards require a separate application, use shortlisting based on academic excellence, personal statement and future impact, and include an interview for final selection. Scholarships are applied at enrolment after verification of eligibility; they are non-transferable, non-deferrable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

• International Excellence Scholarships (all awards under the scheme): Applicants must be classified as an international fee-paying student.
• Applicants must hold an offer for an eligible undergraduate, postgraduate taught or doctoral programme.
• Applicants must be self-funded (government funded students are not eligible for any awards).
• Global Excellence Package (selected countries): Applicants must be applying directly to the University (not via an agent or government sponsor).
• International Merit Package (all other countries): Applicants from any other country other than the specific markets included in the Global Excellence Package, and applicants using the services of a representative partner or agent.
• Scholarships are determined by highest verified academic qualification.
• Programme eligibility for tuition fee discounts: Undergraduate (3-year programmes), postgraduate taught (including MA, MSc, MBA) and PhD/Doctoral programmes are eligible.
• Four-year undergraduate programmes with foundation years are eligible for the Bronze Award only.
• MRes programmes are not eligible.
• Global Scholars Awards: Applicants must be eligible for a Gold International Excellence Scholarship.
• Global Scholars Awards are available to undergraduate and PhD applicants only.
• Global Scholars Awards are available to selected countries only.
• Separate application is required for Global Scholars Awards.
• Final selection includes an interview.

• Gold Award (First Class / 70% GPA or equivalent): £4,000 tuition fee discount (Global Excellence Package).
• Silver Award (Upper Second / 60% GPA or equivalent): £3,000 tuition fee discount (Global Excellence Package).
• Bronze Award (All other eligible applicants): £2,000 tuition fee discount (Global Excellence Package).
• Gold Award (First Class / 70% GPA or equivalent): £3,000 tuition fee discount (International Merit Package).
• Silver Award (Upper Second / 60% GPA or equivalent): up to £2,000 tuition fee discount (International Merit Package).
• Bronze Award (All other eligible applicants): up to £1,000 tuition fee discount (International Merit Package).
• Global Scholars Awards: £5,000 tuition fee discount in the first year of study (each award).
• Chancellor’s Excellence Scholar: 100% tuition fee discount for the first year of study (selected from Global Scholars Award recipients).
• Women in STEM Award: £500 tuition fee discount.
• Family Discount: £500 tuition fee discount.
• Transnational Education (TNE) Progression Award: £500 tuition fee discount.

2. For Global Scholars Awards, submit a separate application.
3. Global Scholars Awards shortlisting is based on academic excellence, personal statement and future impact.
4. Final selection for Global Scholars Awards includes an interview.
