University of Bolton Masters Excellence funding

The University of Bolton describes the Masters (Taught) Excellence Scholarship as an award for students progressing to a University of Bolton taught Masters course. The university says it is open to full-time UK, EU and international Masters students, regardless of financial means.

The scholarship applies to full-time 180-credit taught MA or MSc courses at the University of Bolton. PGCE and Cert Ed courses are not eligible, and the award is paid for first taught Masters courses only, not second or subsequent courses.

Applications are considered in strict date order of receipt. The university says meeting the stated criteria does not guarantee an award because only a limited number of scholarships are available, and the award is made at the university’s discretion.

If a student defers entry, they must re-apply before starting study. Payments stop permanently if the student withdraws, transfers to another institution, fails the programme, or interrupts or suspends study.

• You must be a full-time UK, EU or international Masters student progressing to a University of Bolton taught Masters course.
• You must have a First-Class Honours degree from a UK or EU institution.
• You must be studying a full-time 180-credit taught MA or MSc course at the University of Bolton.
• PGCE and Cert Ed courses are not eligible.
• You must not be in receipt of any other award from the university.
• You must not be in receipt of any other sponsorship toward tuition fees, including sponsorship from an employer.
• Your course must have commenced in September or January.
• The award is for first taught Masters courses only, not second or subsequent courses.
• Students undertaking industrial or work experience on a full-time sandwich basis are not eligible for payment.
• Students studying abroad are not eligible to receive the scholarship.

• A £1,500 tuition fee waiver.

1. Complete the scholarship application form.
2. Obtain the form from the Student Centre, Chancellor’s Mall, or print it from the scholarship page.
3. Submit the completed form with photocopies of certificates showing the First-Class Honours degree.
4. Submit the application to the Student Centre or post it to the Masters (Taught) Excellence Scholarship Scheme at the University of Bolton address given on the page.
5. The university will notify applicants by university email.
6. If entry is deferred, re-apply before the course begins.
