Overview

The Bristol Master's Scholarship is a University of Bristol award for taught postgraduate study. The University of Bristol says it supports talented home students from a widening participation background who are studying MA, MSc, LLM or MRes courses.

It is for applicants to a master's programme at the University of Bristol who are eligible for home tuition fees, meet widening participation criteria, and are external applicants or non-University of Bristol graduates. The scholarship does not apply to PGCE, PG CERT, PG DIP and (MSc) (R) programmes, or to a master's degree taken as part of an intercalation year.

Selection depends on meeting the stated eligibility rules and, before finalisation, holding an unconditional offer, having received a 2:1 or higher undergraduate degree, and meeting any other specific conditions. The award is paid directly to the student in two instalments and applies only to the first year of study.

Commencing in autumn 2026
Eligible for home tuition fees
Already achieved, or predicted to achieve, a 2:1 undergraduate degree
Meets one or more of the University of Bristol’s widening participation criteria
External applicant or non-University of Bristol graduate
Before finalisation: unconditional offer to study
Before finalisation: received a 2:1 or higher undergraduate degree
Before finalisation: met any other specific conditions
Not applying for a PGCE, PG CERT, PG DIP or (MSc) (R) programme
Not applying for a master’s degree as part of an intercalation year
