Overview

The University of Edinburgh offers the MSc Climate Change Management Scholarship in memory of Dr John Douglass Barber, father of an alumna. Scholarships are available for prospective students commencing the Climate Change Management MSc programme, and the university states that funding for the award has yet to be confirmed for an academic year; applicants are asked to keep checking the page for updated information.

The scholarship is aimed at UK nationals domiciled in the UK who have been accepted for admission on a full-time basis for the MSc Climate Change Management programme. It is only available to full-time students undertaking the on-campus version of the degree; students on the Climate Change Management (online learning) MSc are not eligible.

Selection criteria require applicants to demonstrate their motivation for studying Climate Change Management and explain how the MSc will enable them to meet their career goals, including how the scholarship will better enable them to do that. Financial need may also be considered, especially where the award will be key for enabling a student to take up the offer of a place.

The scholarship is tenable for one academic year. The university states it will be automatically deducted from the recipient’s tuition fee, with any remaining funds awarded towards living costs. All award holders are expected to engage with opportunities to present their work to the wider student and staff body during the period covered by their award and to take up training and development opportunities appropriate to their programme.
