University of Surrey ICE International Scholarships with Salaried Training

The Surrey/ICE Scholarship is a bursary scheme offered by the University of Surrey in collaboration with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and leading companies in civil engineering. The stated purpose is to combine industrial training with academic study to enhance students’ career potential.

The scholarship is for undergraduate students who are from the UK and are studying a foundation year or BEng/MEng Civil Engineering at the University of Surrey. Applicants must show a real interest and enthusiasm for civil engineering. The scheme matches successful applicants with a suitable company mid-way through their first year.

Selection is based on an interview process: all applicants are notified by the beginning of April whether they have been selected for interview. Interviews take place on Friday 17 April.

Support is provided as a bursary of £1,950 for each year of study. The company funds the scholarship and provides practical training throughout the course. Students spend the summer vacation after each academic year doing paid training.
