University of Sussex Chancellor’s International Scholarship

University of Sussex offers the Chancellor’s International Scholarship as a tuition fee reduction for international postgraduate applicants who can show academic excellence. The award is a 50% reduction of the overseas tuition fee.

The scholarship is for students who have accepted a full-time eligible Masters place at Sussex. It applies to PG (taught) study and is limited to applicants who are classified as overseas for fee purposes. University of Sussex also says applicants must have clear and specific goals linked to their course.

Applications that meet the stated criteria are referred to an academic panel for a decision after the deadline. The Scholarships Office contacts applicants once a final decision has been made. University of Sussex says the scholarship is awarded as a fee reduction when the student registers in September and that the scholarship information is added to the CAS for visa purposes. Recipients must be able to fund the remaining tuition fee and living expenses for the full course period.

• Classified as overseas for fee purposes.
• Have accepted a place on a full-time eligible Masters commencing at the University of Sussex in September 2020.
• Have excellent grades, defined by University of Sussex as a UK first class degree or equivalent.
• Have clear and specific goals with defined links to the course.
• Be from one of the listed eligible countries or territories.
• Not be studying a postgraduate diploma, including CPE Common Professional Examination.
• Not be studying Corruption, Law and Governance LLM delivered in Qatar.
• Not be studying Development Studies MA.
• Not be studying Early Years Education (with Early Years Teacher Status) MA.
• Not be studying Globalisation, Business and Development MA.
• Not be studying Governance, Development and Public Policy MA.
• Not be studying Power, Participation and Social Change MA.
• Not be studying Poverty and Development MA.
• Not be studying a Masters degree in Social Work and receiving an NHS bursary.
• Not be studying a PGCE course.
• Not be studying a Schools direct teaching course.
• Not be studying any Masters funded by the research councils, including ESRC 1+3 funding.
• Not be studying any Masters at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

• 50% reduction of the overseas tuition fee.

1. Accept an offer of a place on an eligible Masters at the University of Sussex.
2. Complete the online scholarship application form for the Chancellor’s International Scholarship.
3. Provide a statement of academic interests that includes your drive and ambitions, your potential for positive impact when you return to your home country, and any relevant work experience, skills or extra-curricular activity linked to your ambitions or chosen course.
4. Wait for applications that meet the criteria to be referred to an academic panel for a decision.
5. Receive the final decision from the Scholarships Office.
