Warwick Taught Masters Scholarship Scheme

The University of Warwick offers the Warwick Taught Masters Scholarship Scheme to support eligible postgraduate students in/. Awards are set up to £10,000 per student and are available to eligible Home fee status students from under-represented groups who wish to start a postgraduate taught masters course in/.

The scheme is for applicants applying for an eligible taught Masters course at the University of Warwick, studying full-time or part-time and starting in October. It applies to Home fee status applicants and includes specific exclusions: module based courses not achieving 180 CATS over 1 year (including an Executive MBA course), Distance Learning courses, and Postgraduate Diplomas or Postgraduate Certificates.

Applicants must be able to answer yes to all three general eligibility questions in Part 1 and at least one question in Part 2, and also meet at least one criterion in Part 3 (under-represented groups in postgraduate taught study). Applications are assessed based on the number and nature of the Part 3 criteria provided as evidence, and meeting multiple Part 3 criteria does not necessarily guarantee an award.

Each scholarship includes a tuition fee contribution only, paid as a contribution towards tuition fees. Taught Masters awards are not transferable to stipends. A specific note says applicants receiving a full fee waiver, including an NHS Bursary or Social Work Bursary, are not eligible for the award. Results are communicated by email by 30th June, and continuing, transferring, or repeating students who started a Masters course prior to academic year/ are not eligible.

• Be eligible to pay tuition fees at the Home rate
• Confirm you do not already hold a Masters (or Integrated Masters), PhD qualification or equivalent level qualification
• Apply for an eligible taught Masters course, studying full-time or part-time, starting in October 2026
• Meet course exclusions: module based courses not achieving 180 CATS over 1 year (including Executive MBA course) are not eligible
• Meet course exclusions: Distance Learning courses are not eligible
• Meet course exclusions: Postgraduate Diplomas or Postgraduate Certificates are not eligible
• Answer yes to all three Part 1 general eligibility questions and at least one Part 2 financial eligibility question
• Part 2 financial eligibility (answer yes to at least one): If you started your undergraduate course prior to August 2016, you were in receipt of a full or partial maintenance grant from the UK Government as an undergraduate
• Part 2 financial eligibility (answer yes to at least one): If you started your undergraduate course after August 2016, you were eligible for a means tested maintenance loan from the UK Student Loans Company (minimum qualifying loan amounts are in the updated guidance notes)
• Part 2 financial eligibility (answer yes to at least one): You were in receipt of a special support grant from the UK government for your undergraduate course
• Part 2 financial eligibility (answer yes to at least one): You have refugee status or humanitarian protection in the UK as a result of an asylum claim, or you reside in the UK under a UK Government programme such as the Ukraine scheme or Afghan scheme, and did not take out student finance because you received alternative financial support from your university or charitable foundation (e.g., Sanctuary Scholarship or Chevening Scholarship)
• Part 3 under-represented groups in postgraduate taught study: You come from one of the most deprived areas of the country as defined by the government's IMD database, with a postcode IMD value in decile 1 or 2
• Part 3: You entered University at undergraduate level as a Care Leaver (aged 16-25; in the care of their local authority for at least 13 weeks at any time since the age of 14, including some time after their 16th birthday)
• Part 3: You were assessed as an 'independent student through estrangement' by Student Finance England, Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland or the Student Awards Agency Scotland at any point during your undergraduate degree
• Part 3: You either have refugee status, humanitarian protection, or are in the UK under protection from a specific scheme that makes you eligible for Home fee status and access to student loans from the UK government (such as the Ukraine Schemes or Afghan Schemes)
• Part 3: You were a Warwick Scholars undergraduate
• Part 3: You are in receipt of DSA as an undergraduate student and/or currently receive DLA, or PIP
• Part 3: You began your undergraduate studies aged 21+
• Part 3: You are a carer for an ill or disabled family member and are in receipt of Carers Allowance prior to enrolling on your course, or are able to provide proof that you are a carer
• Not eligible if you are in receipt of a full fee waiver, including in receipt of an NHS Bursary or Social Work Bursary
• Continuing, transferring or repeating students who started a Masters course with the University prior to academic year 2026/2027 are not eligible
• To be eligible, all required evidence must be provided as part of your application
• To be eligible, you must have applied for an eligible Taught Masters course at the University of Warwick by the application deadline

• Up to £10,000 tuition fee contribution (paid as a contribution towards tuition fees only; if tuition fee is lower than £10,000, you will be awarded up to the amount required to cover your tuition fee only)
• Taught Masters awards are not transferable to stipends

2. Complete the application form for the Warwick Taught Masters Scholarship Scheme and provide all required evidence as part of the application.
3. Ensure you have applied for an eligible Taught Masters course at the University of Warwick by the application deadline to be eligible for the scholarship.
4. Submit your application. Applications are now closed for 2026/27.
