Accounting Certificate

The Accounting Certificate at Southeastern Community College focuses on entry-level accounting knowledge and skills. Students study financial accounting topics such as payroll methods, the preparation and interpretation of financial statements, and the process for working with balance sheets, financial statements, income tax analysis, and cost accounting. Core classes include Principles of Accounting I, Financial Accounting, and Payroll Accounting.

Courses in the curriculum include Payroll Accounting, Introduction to Computers, Composition I, CTE Job Shadowing, Principles of Accounting I, Financial Accounting, Introduction to Business, and Finite Math. The program is offered in West Burlington, Keokuk, and online. Keokuk students must enroll in courses at the West Burlington campus, online, or both to complete the program. The certificate is awarded after successful completion of first semester courses.
