The Advanced Manufacturing Welding Processes Certificate prepares students for positions as a welder in a manufacturing or fabrication facility setting. Students build layout and fitting skills for industrial welding shop work, including reading prints, estimating and ordering materials, and performing layout and cutting work. The curriculum also covers specialized welding techniques and tolerances on select metals and materials.
Training includes welding, brazing, and flame cutting, with emphasis on production fabrication techniques, maintenance and repair procedures, blueprint reading, properties of metals, and inspection methods. SCC is an accredited American Welding Society (AWS) testing facility, and students have the opportunity to obtain AWS Certifications. The Advanced Manufacturing Welding Processes certificate is awarded after earning both Welding Processes certificates and completing WEL-182, WEL-198, WEL-292, WEL-235, and WEL-720.
