The Electrical Powerline Technology Associate of Applied Science prepares students for work installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground power lines and equipment. The program focuses on troubleshooting and repair to fix faults, respond to outages, and restore power, with an emphasis on working at heights, including climbing poles and towers and using bucket trucks.
Training also covers safety procedures for high-voltage work and the operation of specialized tools and machinery. Students work with electrical power equipment and communication lines, and they are prepared to address storm-related power disruptions and disaster response through extended shifts after disasters. The program also includes apprenticeship training for new apprentices.
